The news has spread – Warner Bros. will stop releasing movies in HD DVD in May 2008, thus focusing all of its energy, attention and well, funds on the Blu-ray format going forward. Up until this point, Warner has released movie titles in both formats. The HD DVD vs. Blu-Ray war has been raging for over a year. This change in strategy could tip the fight in Blu-ray’s favor, potentially ending the battle royale. To date, Sony Pictures, Columbia TriStar, 20th Century Fox, Disney, MGM and Lionsgate have all fought under the Blu-ray banner. Universal, Paramount and Dreamworks still maintain their HD DVD exclusivity (with the exception of Spielberg films). Who will win? Will anyone win?
