Third Generation HD DVD Players Announced

toshiba-hda1-hd-dvd-player.jpgToshiba has announced its plans for unveiling its third generation of HD DVD players. In a press release earlier this month, the electronics giant announced its official ship dates for their new lines of players, all priced under $500.00.  The release indicates that Toshiba is make more HD DVD players available in response to the growing consumers demand for better quality players at reasonable prices. 

The new line products are the HD-A3 player, priced at $299.99; the HD-A30 player, priced at $399.99; and the HD-A35 player, priced at $499.99.  The HD-A35 and HD-A30 are both 1080p capable at 24fps and both feature CE-Link to pass commands to other home theater components. The products will be available in the September/October 2007 time frame.

All of Toshiba’s HD DVD players, according to the release, support the enhanced features of the HD DVD format mandated by the DVD Forum. These features include picture-in-picture video, audio commentary and the ability to allow web-enabled network capabilities. Toshiba’s HD DVD models are also backward compatible so users can maintain their current collection of DVDs and CDs but watch then through high definition enhancement provided by the players.
