The rumors are flying about the future of HD DVD. Earlier this month, after Warner Bros. announcement that they will move toward Blu-ray exclusivity, stories that Universal Home Entertainment will not renew their previous exclusive pact with HD DVD are emerging. Does this signal the final toll for HD DVD? Universal is calling the stories “unsubstantiated rumors” but many feel the truth will be inevitably announced in the next few months.
HD DVD promotion by companies like Toshiba have been tapered down quite a bit, despite the potential hype that could have been created at this month’s CES show in Las Vegas. Staunch supporters of the technology are no doubt gearing up to fight for their favorite high definition movie format in both the entertainment community as well as the general public.
