CD Celebrates 25th Birthday

compactdisc.jpgAugust 17th marks the 25th anniversary of the compact disc more conventionally known as the CD.  The first CD recording was made in Germany on August 17, 1982 and on October 1st of the same year, the CD player was introduced in the U.S. and Japan. The early 1980s was the launching pad for more interactive and visually interesting gaming for the PC, and audio players like boom boxes, walkman, and eventually DVDs.  The CD was an incredible piece of technology during those ever growing digital times.  Even in our age of MP3s and iPods, I still can’t imagine life without some form of CD. I suppose the same may be said for those that saw the cassette tape as the revolution of music technology.
