Testing One-Two: Wilmington Becomes First To Make Digital Transition
The FCC designated the city as a test market for the transition a few months back and this week, they said Go. The rest of the U.S. will make the strongdigital TV transition on February 17, 2009.
The early testing is being done to help troubleshoot potential problems associated with the transition. When TV stations make the transition to digital, any home receiving a TV signal from something other than a cable or satellite box, will no longer receive basic television stations. Analog TV owners can receive a credit to purchase a converter box so that they will be able to watch TV on their current set. Otherwise, analog TV users will need to purchase a new digital TV.
