Selecting the Right TV Wall Mount for your Home Theater

Wall mounting televisions are becoming the most popular way to display a plasma or LCD flat panel television.  But how do you get those large, beautiful screens securely placed on your home theater wall?  Buying the right mounting device for your television requires that you know the shape, size and weight of your video display. Mounts are built based on these specifications so you will simply need to match up these details with that of your mounting device. If you are nervous about choosing the right mount, ask your retailer to help you. They may also be able to help you with installation for added security.

A solid TV wall mount will have brackets that will tie-in to your wall’s studs or 2x4s. This provides the strength and support needed to hold large plasma or LCD flat panel TVs. Wall mounting kits also come with a base that the screen sits on for added support.  Most wall mounts can hold 200 – 300lbs of weight.  Given that a 50 inch plasma TV barely weights 100 pounds, you can be sure that a well installed wall mount will have no problem holding your television securely.
