Oregon: Recycling TVs and eCycling
Shelby Wood of The Oregonian has written an interesting piece on the electronics recycling trend that is taking root in Oregon. A new eCycling program has been adopted by state legislators which effectively puts a requirement on all TV and electronics manufacturers selling in Oregon to pay to have their products recycled when needed. This means that Oregonians will be able to drop off old CRT and LCD TVs as well as other electronics off at recycling sites at no charge. Additionally, the program ensures that the computer and TV recyclers follow environmental guidelines for their disposal.
Again, Oregon is taking the lead on ensuring that harmful electronics no longer find their ways into landfills around the U.S.
