Not All Home Speaker Systems are the Same
I have a friend who recently bought a package speaker system from a manufacturer (which I will leave unnamed here). I will say that the manufacturer is well-known and can be seen splashing ads all around your Best Buy inserts. The system was not cheap but it was convenient and, as I mentioned, a seeming no brainer decision to make in my friends eyes. However, he is disappointed.
The sound quality of the system does not live up to the hype of the promotion nor the name brand expectations he had. He’s not the first to fall victim to this type of scenario. More cities are getting quality home theater stores where you can ask the right questions and get the right answers about real home theater needs and expectations. Having these types of places in your neighborhood make the flashy system package purchase no longer necessary.
In general, be wary of manufacturers that spend millions of dollars on advertising. This is usually a sign that the company is not focusing its energy where it should truly be in order to develop quality products – research and development. Many package speakers use cheaper cone drivers and others have not updated their technology designs in decades. This poor growth of quality results in disappointment to the consumer.
Before you buy any home theater speakers, talk to a professional about what you are looking for. There is no reason to be disappointed by something that should be such a great addition to your home.
