Dolby Volume | Regulating Volume Between Commercials and Programming
Toshiba has indicated that their LCD HDTVs will soon feature Dolby Volume, an audio feature that may just be the best little improvement to TVs in a long time. Dolby Volume “measures, analyzes and maintains volume levels” to ensure better consistency between programs, channels and commercials. The technology was built specifically to address commercials, which are often developed at a higher volume level than other things. For many of us, this means not having to race to the remote to kill the sound every time a commercial break comes around.
There is currently no set date for when we can see Toshiba HDTVs with this feature.
