Those converter boxes we’ve been talking about that will be necessary to convert analog sets to a format that can read the digital TV programming in 2009 will be available by major retail chains. The National Telecommunications and Information Administration announced that all of your favorite big named stores – Best Buy, RadioShack, Target, Wal-Mart, Circuit City, Sears and Kmart – will carry the boxes for anyone out there who has an analog set and is not using cable. All of the stores will accept the government issued $40 coupons for the purchase and each will carry various versions of the product from companies like LG, Philips and RCA.
Coupons will be available start February 17, 2008. For more on the federal subsidized coupons for the digital transition, read “Digital Transition Coupons Now Available in the US.”
